#whywerun - Adam Murphy

We recently touched base with the inspiring Adam Murphy, or “Murph” from Melbourne. I’ve followed his running journey for a couple of years through social media and Strava and it’s safe to say, this guy has come a long way quickly! Having faced a couple of hurdles along the way, Murph has been able to push on and be a leader within his community. Here are a few words from Adam Murphy…

“I run to get out and challenge myself both physically and mentally, to get out into nature - to disconnect from technology and spend time with like-minded legends. Whether it’s running 5km at parkrun or 100km at Surf Coast Century, the simplicity of running is what draws me in. There’s no cheating - you get out what you put in and I’m a lover of hard work.

I ran my first marathon at Melbourne Marathon in 2015, 1 month later I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. For me this wasn’t all doom and gloom it was a lightbulb moment for me to get out of my comfort zone and see what I can achieve, broken pancreas and all.

My next few events include Marysville Marathon, Two Bays 56km & Duncan’s 50km.”

We love your work mate.. Keep inspiring others by pushing your limits, it’s great to see!
