#whywerun - Annie Braddon

[WhyWeRunWednesday] with Annie Braddon.

We all have difference reasons as to why we run. Some for mental clarity, some for freedom or PB’s, but for Annie, it is to tick off the 6 World Major Marathons and enjoy the process along the way. Based out of Adelaide with a wealth of running knowledge after many years pounding the pavement, Annie shares with us her achievements and what is coming up next…

“I've been running for 25 years. I decided to run my first marathon on the Gold Coast in 2009, and I was hooked. I like the discipline of training for the Marathon. I train alone, and I'm always out early in the mornings before the suns up. It sets me up for the day.

I love the running community, and if I'm not running I'll volunteer. I also coach a free speed session every Wednesday morning in the city.

I had a goal to run the New York Marathon, which I achieved in 2015, then I set my sights on qualifying for Boston, but was sidelined with injury. It wasn't until 2017 that I was back Marathon training and I ran a Boston Qualifying time and got an entry into Boston for 2018. However after another injury, My Physio recommends that I start training with @perform_elite which I have been since December 2018, and haven't looked back.

After running Boston this year, in a freezing monsoonal storm, I knew anything was possible. It ignited my passion to finish all 6 of the World Majors.

When I returned, I explored every avenue & got an entry into Berlin 2018,  then I ran Chicago 3 weeks later. I also secured an entry into Tokyo 2019 and a charity place for London 2019 to be able to complete my 6 World Majors, running 5 Majors in just over 12 months, 14 Marathons in total.”

Unbelievable achievements Annie, and what a way to see the world along the way! We can’t wait to see you complete the 6 Majors next year. Enjoy the training!
