FRACTEL AMBASSADOR - Belinda Nicholson
FRACTEL AMBASSADOR: [WhyWeRunWednesday] with Belinda Nicholson ( @belinda_lee11 ).
We are stoked to introduce one of our foundation Ambassadors, Belinda. Based out of Lysterfield, Victoria, Belinda has a very strong love for both her family and the trails. She is no stranger to pushing her limits, with some big races under her belt already! We can’t help but admire her passion and involvement within her running community as she continues to inspire others by simply doing what she loves.
Here is a little bit about Belinda, and ‘why’ she runs…
“My passion for running started in primary school competing in cross-county. Entering high school, the running unfortunately came second & hanging out with friends came first.
In 2010 after finding out some horrible news within the family, I felt lost , depressed, and so empty I wanted & needed an outlet for myself. I joined a boot camp in Mornington and there we did some running along the ocean & around the park, and right away I fell straight back in love with it. It was now a sense of escape & freedom.
My trainer at the time told me about the Silvan trail running event coming up and I absolutely wanted to get on board! After completing my first 7km running event I wanted more, and more it came. A few 12km and 21km, 50km then bang a 100km !!!
Never would I ever imagined I would run a distance of 100km and love it !!!!
I still want more and will continue to strive for more. Running makes me happy & free. I love a challenge physically & mentally, I love the adventures of trail running.
I love the atmosphere, the support & encouragement from all involved in the trail running community. I simply love running long distances!
My next adventures are the 36km Wonderland run in Halls Gap this coming weekend, and in 3 weeks returning to my all-time favourite event Surfcoast Century in Anglesea to run the 50km.”
Great words Belinda, and another inspiring story within our running community. We can’t wait to watch and support you as you continue to take on these big events. All the best this weekend, go get ‘em!
